Monica Jarold Hietsch is a palette knife oil painter working from her home.
She attended La Roche University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design. Here she learned the design concepts of color, shape, line and rhythm. Photography classes opened the door for capturing a moment in time and her painting professors let her now color outside the lines.
After graduation her first job was with the Allegheny County Bar Association as their publication graphic designer. A few years into this career Monica and her husband, Scott, found out that they were having twins! She became a full-time mother. Photography became a way to channel her creativity, and she took many pictures of people, nature and her travels. As the twins grew up Monica started taking oil painting classes at the Sweetwater Center for the Arts. This led to the moment that she realized putting her photography skills together with her love of painting was the outlet she had been looking for.
Taking the photographs in her portfolio, Monica started translating them into paintings. No matter what the subject, texture, color and movement are central in the final piece. She is affiliated with numerous originations including The National Association of Women Artists (NAWA).
Firebox Art Studios in Carnegie PA, owned by artist Eva Trout, features Monica’s representational paintings.
